Stack toilet paper rolls.

*NOTES:

• Have a few kids be the "snowman restackers" and "ball getter".  Makes your life easier.  ;)
• SR Primary (mine, at least) gets crazy with games. It was loud, but I expected that, so I let it happen and went with it.

Melting Song

Make the song you're learning 'melt' away!  It's a line-by-line word removal "game" that gets them to sing over and over again.

1. Write out the words of song on the chalkboard.
2. Have words or phrases from the song on white paper that you've crumpled up into paper "snowballs".
3. Have a child pick a "snowball" and open it.
4. Erase that word or phrase from the board.
5. Omit that word/phrase from the song as you sing. (Hum through those parts)
6. Repeat, omitting/humming more and more words until all the snowballs are gone and the song has melted away!

Original Snowball "Fight"

1. Have the kids write their favorite song on a piece of paper
2. Have them crumple it up into a ball
3. Then, they throw the ball either at you or a target (chalkboard, garbage can)
4. Choose from the snowballs and sing!
   
   
   *This idea has been floating around for quite some time (as far as I can tell).

Melting Snowball

Make it:

• Create a layered "Snowball" by winding up white (or maybe even blue) crepe paper streamers.
• As you're winding it up, put something in the layers. (Ideas: words from a song, song titles (to sing), pictures, ways to sing...)

Use it:

1. Pass the "Snowball" around the room while you sing.
2. Sing until the piano stops (either random or at the end of the song).
3. Then have the child holding the snowball unwrap a layer until they find something.
4. Repeat.

Snowball Search

1. Fill a bucket with cotton balls.
2. Also include song titles, written on white circle shaped paper.
3. Invite a child to dig through the "Snow".
4. Sing the song title they pulled out.
5. Repeat.

Simple Snowball Toss

1. Put song #s in a cotton tin
2. Choose a child to throw a cotton ball into the muffin tin
3. The # it lands in is the one you sing!

MItten Match

Have the kids do a mitten matching game. Make paper mittens, or if you have enough lying around, real ones! Tape up on the board to string them on a line. Many cute ways to do this.

Ways to implement the game;
1. The child who makes the match gets to lead the song with mittens on (lead alongside you, of course).
2. The matching mittens are a song to sing.
3. The matching mittens are a way to sing (to review a song over and over again).

Snow Bowl

If you live where it's snowy get a big bowl of snow and bury objects inside. Have the kids dig out the objects with a spoon while wearing mittens.  The objects can represent parts of the song, or each object represents a song (ie; a snowman = sing Once There Was A Snowman).

Song Snowflakes

These song snowflakes on OCD Chorister are TOO COOL.  You just print them off and cut them out as directed. Hooray for OCD Chorister for putting them together! A great creative mind at work over there. 

*I had to post a picture of OCD's actual snowflakes because the detail on hers is so much better than mine! I just sort of fludged through making mine. So go see hers!
