What is that crazy green thing?

It's a song... in WaveForm.

Waveform is the wavy way audio LOOKS.  Kinda fun, right?

SO, I just have to say that it drives me crazy when a recorded song doesn't stay at the same volume throughout. I don't mean the dramatic highs and lows written into a song - I mean the literal volume level of the audio file. Unfortunately, many of the songs on the LDS music player do not stay at consistent audio levels within themselves, and also the audio levels vary from song to song. SO, when I make the Primary Music CD I go straight to work leveling out the audio and trimming the edges. It's subtle and it doesn't bother any one else but me. BUT, I do it anyway... for my own sanity....  :)

2014 "NEW YEAR, NEW SONGS" Program

Ask adults in the Ward to come sing during one hour of Primary (the other hour everyone goes to classes). Arrange them into groups. This is how I'm trying it for 2014. I have a narrator (me) speaking a few lines in between each song.  Afterwards if we have time I have additional activities.  Either this or this or both, maybe?

2014 "NEW YEAR NEW SONGS" PROGRAM:

The 2014 Primary Theme is "Families Are Forever".
Our forever families start when we have love at home.

Article of Faith Wordstrip Poster

We're going to work on the Article of Faith songs this year.  We'll sing, take down words and repeat until all words are off the board - then move on to the next AOF song. Hopefully we'll make it through all 13. If we learn them super fast, maybe we'll be repeating them sometime in the year. We'll just see how it goes.

Here's how I made my AOF visual aide:

BOARD:

• Buy a thick posterboard. (I anticipate it will get beat up by the end of the year.)
• Print off 13 pictures. Suggestions; Melonheadz, Simply Fresh, AOF Number Posters. (I printed them in 8x10 size at Sams Club).
• Tape a plastic sheet cover in the corner to hold the picture for that AOF song. One on both sides - for JR and SR. (I am thinking that JR and SR will go through the AOF songs at different rates. For the first little while I will use the same picture, just move it from side to side, until one group gets ahead of the other.)
• Leave the rest of the board blank for the taping on of the wordstrips.

WORD STRIPS:

• Type a doc with all the AOF lyrics.
• Print it off and cut it up.
• Put each AOF's word strips into a labeled envelope.
• Keep all envelopes together for easy access throughout the year. 
• Repeat if you're making one for JR and for SR.
